John David Phillips was born in Roswell, New Mexico in 1955.  John began painting at the age of eight, traveled as a youth, earned a Master's degree at the University of Oklahoma and settled in the Colorado foothills west of Denver.  He paints (in oil) both in his studio and outdoors on location en plein air.  Southwest Art Magazine writes "The paintings of Colorado artist John David Phillips show an overriding concern for conveying the mood of a scene.  He has a unique approach to lighting, composition and perspective."
